I am still fundraising for the Walk Now for Autism Speaks through May.  I have received a beautiful skein of Wollmeise that I will be giving away to one lucky viewer to donates!  The yarn is 500% of the We're Different base in Indioch Rot - which I'm told is Indian Red?  Regardless of the name, it's a beautiful yarn and I'm grateful to Aesox for her donation!
If you would like to donate a prize for this cause, please contact me at erin@mommyneedsyarn.com or find me on Ravelry as MommyNeedsYarn.

The Japanese Garden Shawl KAL continues and we have had a fantastic response!  Please think about joining us.  The KAL will continue until the end of April.  Everyone who posts a picture of their finished (and blocked) shawl by April 30th will be entered into a drawing for a prize TBD by me!  If you have something you'd like to add for this, please contact me and I'll be happy to add your product to the prize package!

I think that is everything... I am off to spin the gorgeous Woolgatherings fiber that is calling my name and will be my first attempt at navajo plying!  Squeeee!!!

Mommy Knows Best

I decided to take a moment on Wednesdays and answer some of the questions that have been asked in the comments.  I'll also answer the more in-depth ones in Friday's episodes.  But here are a couple of quick responses.

Penelope10 asked: "I love the wheel! What is the brand?"
- The wheel is a Lendrum DT (double treadle) It's a beautiful wheel and I am having an amazing time working with it.

L asked: "I want to buy a wheel but have no idea what kind to purchase. How did you come to your decision?"
- I went into The Fold convinced I needed a Ladybug. But Toni was out of that wheel so I sat down at all of the different wheels and tried treading them. Toni brought me the Lendrum and said "You need to try this one." It was love at first spin.

I love hearing from you so please feel free to comment and ask any questions you may have.  I know I tend to talk to the screen when watching podcasts - drop me a note and I'll be happy to respond:  either here on Wednesdays or on the podcast.

Hope you're having a great week!

A KAL for Japan

WendyKnits aka Wendy Johnson has published a new shawl pattern called Japanese Garden Shawl
She is donating all of the proceeds to American Red Cross for their disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific.
I have purchased my copy of the pattern, printed it and cast on in some lovely Knit Picks palette in Clematis Heather that I had in my stash.
I would love to have you all join me!
Cast on anytime and finish by April 30th to be entered in a drawing for a special prize from me!
Your entry will be a picture of the finished (and blocked) shawl.
You can either link to a post on your blog or post a picture in the KAL thread on Ravelry.
Please join us in supporting the relief efforts in Japan and other affected areas.
I will talk more about the KAL in this week’s episode.
