The Power of Apple

I FINALLY found the card that my earrings came with.
Apple logos recycled from a pair of 1991 Apple keyboards, considered by enthusiasts to be the golden-era of Macintosh keyboards.
The website is:  http://www.geekware.ca

She has lots of very cool tech-hoar accessories.  :)
So go check it out!

Lemming

Seems that Miss Lala of KnitGirllls fame has started something of a trend!  The Starving Artist hat has become the accessory to knit this week.  And I am dubbing it the Lemming Hat because everyone is knitting it!  And Lemmings are cute.  If Laura were a Lemming, I would TOTALLY follow her off a cliff. I'd probably follow her off a cliff anyway.  She's just THAT cool.
Anyway, here's my Cascade 220 held double purple Lemming Hat.

What I Love
- The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Nicholas Cage.  Good movie!  Kids loved it!
- The 19th Wife is AMAZING.  I need to get rid of the kids for a couple of days so I can get some reading time!  Anyone want free child labor for 48 hours?  I'll poke holes in the Fed Ex box and put a water bottle in there.
- I am thinking about doing a KAL/CAL for the Autism Speaks Scarf on Ravelry.  It's a crochet pattern but there is also a knitted hat pattern that would be cool too.  Please message me or leave a comment here or email - whatever - if you're interested.

To enter for the skein of Sun Valley Fiber Farm yarn, leave a comment. The contest will close on Wednesday, February 16th at 6pm and I will announce the winner in next Friday's episode!

Good luck!

The contest has closed.  Watch Friday's episode of Mommy Needs Yarn to find out the winner!
Thanks for entering!

Yummy Yarn Goodness will go to one lucky viewer!

Yarn Porn

I came home to a box on the front porch - the yarn for my next project.
I'll talk more about it in tomorrow's podcast but here's some yarn porn for ya.

Opening yarn is so exciting!!!
Such a beautiful green!!
It's Knit Picks Palette in Edamame

I also ordered some Harmony DPNs to try out.

Any guesses on what this is waiting to be made into?
How about wagers on whether or not I wait to finish at least one WIP before casting on?

She was an American Girl

I put down my knitting for a few hours today and did this:

My niece turns 7 on Thursday and she asked to go to American Girl Place for her birthday.  She also invited ME - her favorite aunt - to tag along.  So I hopped on the train this morning and met my sister downtown to help make Zoe's birthday amazing.

While on the train, I whipped this up:

Well, actually I made all three pieces, but I whipped up a little crochet hat for Little Zoe on the train ride. Zoe's hat and scarf are crochet also - I made them for her for Christmas.

We had lunch in the cafe which was wonderful.  Dessert was, of course, my favorite:

Judging by the look on Lindsey's face, it was her favorite too:

If this picture is any indication, the trip was a total success:

I hope everyone is having as successful a weekend as I am!
Tomorrow - more work on the Acadian Shawl and the February Lady Sweater.
But tonight I'm exhausted...so I'm going to bed to dream of little doll shoes and little doll earrings and $40 doll outfits.  :)
