Episode 2 - And the Lost were Found

Show Notes
What's New
- The puppy tried to eat my knitting.
- We found Jesus hiding in the Wii games.
- Ravelry group (Mommy Needs Yarn) has 77 members - AWESOMENESS!
- The podcast is available on iTunes now.
- Thanks to JD at Twisted Strands for the shout out in her last episode!

WIP
February Lady Sweater by Pamela Wynne in Cascade 220 Heathers Celtic Green
Square Top Hat by Hannah Fettig in Trekking XXL Susanne
Acadian Shawl in Wool Ease (I keep forgetting to show this one because it's a stash eater and not a priority)

FO
Starving Artist by Laura Linneman in some random bulky yarn I had in my bin with no tag.  It's grey.

What's Next
Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fettig in Knit Picks Palette Edamame

What I Love
- The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Nicholas Cage.  Good movie!  Kids loved it!
- The 19th Wife is AMAZING.  I need to get rid of the kids for a couple of days so I can get some reading time!  Anyone want free child labor for 48 hours?  I'll poke holes in the Fed Ex box and put a water bottle in there.
- I am thinking about doing a KAL/CAL for the Autism Speaks Scarf on Ravelry.  It's a crochet pattern but there is also a knitted hat pattern that would be cool too.  Please message me or leave a comment here or email - whatever - if you're interested.

To enter for the skein of Sun Valley Fiber Farm yarn, leave a comment. The contest will close on Wednesday, February 16th at 6pm and I will announce the winner in next Friday's episode!

Good luck!

The contest has closed.  Watch Friday's episode of Mommy Needs Yarn to find out the winner!
Thanks for entering!

Yummy Yarn Goodness will go to one lucky viewer!

  4. "I found Jesus!" "Do I look like a penis?" "And that's why he doesn't get anything knit for him anymore." I'm not sure which is my favorite quote for this podcast but they are all hilarious! Oh, and I can't say or hear the word "duty" without giggling. Which frustrates my husband to no end as he's in the Air Force and "duty" is a word that gets used a lot. Which means I giggle like a middle schooler a lot. Oh well.

Thanks for the fun podcast and I look forward to the next!

  6. You had me rollin the whole episode. Thanks for the huge smile that will be plastered on my face for the rest of the day thinking about your product placements and that this mommy needs more yarn.
Its very generous of you to have a giveaway after only 2 episodes. (Fingers crossed that the random generator picks me.)

  7. Congrats on your second episode. I also have 3 sons who are 8, almost 7, and 4 & two daughters who are 2 and nearly 7 months. I'd love to be entered in your giveaway.

  8. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Erin. I really enjoyed this episode (as well as the first!). Being the mother to a son, I understand the 14-year-old boy humor all too well even if my has aged on to 22 - that doesn't really ever change. :o)

  12. I was knitting with Bryspun DPNs while I was watching this, so, yes, Bryspun does still make needles as far as I know! LOL The LYS I worked at carried the DPNs...not sure if we had the circs or not. I don't mind the DPNs, as I don't actually use them all that often, but I'm not sure I'd want to knit with them all the time.

Your Starving Artist looks so cute! And no, you do not look like a penis. ;)

  13. I'm with the first comment poster, Kathy, I never win anything either.

Is it wrong that your little man reminds me of my 34yr old husband, always wanting attention? *lol*

I have you beat on animals eating your string, girlie!! *lol* My little Demon Wroo cat, who is maybe 2-3yrs old and nineteen and a half inches wide around her belly (and she's fixed) has chewed up: 2 ear phone cords, 1 specific ear phones for a mini iPod, and just the other night she chewed up my net book's power cord. As well she continuously attacks any balls of yarn in a gorcery bag so rubber maids are a must, as long as night "kitty proofing" before I go to bed. Worse off, she doesn't learn and tries to "yoike" my small balls of cotton yarn WHILE I'm knitting. She has also tried to make off twice with two circular needles in her mouth and the ends bouncing back and forth between her legs. Hilarious and cute but the net book's power cord was the straw the broke mama's back. Still the husband keeps on making requests to get a small dog - like I need a dog to protect my yarn and knitting from as well. Though maybe the dog would learn!!

Speaking of dogs ... I'd watch where you hide that baby Jesus" if your puppy likes yarn who knows what else the little turkey will eat.

You've seriously made me want to break my rule and cast on the Starving Artist. Maybe I'll do it for a friend who looks nearly as good as you in hats. ;)

    Stay warm and happy momma-ing.

  23. Your podcast reminds me of why I'm glad my kids are getting older (14 & 18). Love them, but I'm definitely over the million Mommy routine. One of my favorite parts is when you superimpose comments over the podcast! That is so funny! Thanks for doing the podcast - you make me smile.

  26. I like you show! Thanks!
I would love to win that yarn. :)

I'm not of any church faith and would really like to hear more yarn talk without the "church talk". Maybe its just me...but I watch yarn shows for the yarn talk. ;)

    Either way...good luck.

  27. Nice I would like a chance to win the yarn. I have never heard of it before.

I agree with the last poster about the church stuff. Yarn talk should be about yarn stuff.

  28. Your Starving Artist is very cute! I made one too, and I have plenty of opportunity to wear it here in New Hampshire.
You've kept me laughing so far, looking forward to seeing your Featherweight Cardigan. :)

  29. You are a riot, can totally relate to another mother. You made me laugh and I thank you for that. I two boys who loveusing potty words even though they are not supposed to. My 7 year old has a language issue and he says penis like "penish" and it really is cute.

I love the hat on you looks really cute and stylish.

My hubby doesn't get any knitted items either, because he doesn't respect the time and effort that goes into them. my 10 and 7 year old boys do and love the items I knit.

Looking forward to more episodes, thank you.

    Sheila
